Amy Russell | Embodied Poetics in conversation with Heather Ward | Director’s Cut Theatre Company; Matilda Blomquist | Melpomalia Friteater; Yuriria Fanjul | Actor, Opera stage director; Natasha Nixon | Director, performance practitioner; and Kjersti Webb | Visual artist, performer, educator

To launch the 3rd Season of Unrehearsed Futures, we are thrilled to be joined by philosopher, poet and public intellectual, Dr. Báyò Akómoláfé who will share his reflections on our season’s theme, and where he finds resonance with his own work and thinking on the notion of indeterminacy and generative incapacitation.

Overview:
Whether through funding processes, the paradigms of applied theatre, or the continuing legacy of the romantic and separate artist, theatre practitioners often begin their work already separated from the communities that they intend to serve. Theatre appears to be parachuted into foreign territory, or involved in long-term community relationships that take on a pastoral configuration. In this discussion, we will be asking how theatre artists working with communities experience this separation and how it can be addressed. Join the conversation with five community theatre artists from Sweden, the U.K. and Mexico.
