Master Class by JISR – Music Ensemble from Germany

European Music is a confluence of music cultures around the Mediterranean. The influence of Arabic culture in Spanish Andalusia and the rest of Central Europe has been of great importance for the development of musical instruments and music theories. Similarly, music from Europe, like Italian opera, has impacted musical culture on the other side of the sea, which the Romans called Mare-Nostrum.

In this workshop by music ensemble JISR, participants will discover the history of musical exchange across the mediterranean through an introduction to unique instruments and composers. The workshop is designed to create conditions for interaction that allow participants to learn about “world music”, its genesis and production from the experiences of ensemble members.
