Aparna Uppaluri trained as an epidemiologist and worked in clinical research and primary care programming for over 14 years in Canada. She is founder & director of the Antara Artists Collective in Bangalore, India, an organization focused on extended practice in traditional performing arts. She teaches Odissi at Antara and is currently pursuing a research program on dance history and pedagogy with a focus on the body as a site of knowledge production and inquiry. Aparna also leads the Science and Society program at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, TIFR, Bangalore which seeks to explore the dialogue between history, theory and practice of knowledge systems has lead her explore the nature of modern science and alternative worldviews.
