Founder - Umber Architecture; FMR Director - Jaaga (Entrepreneur Programme) • she/her
I am the Founder of Umber - a sustainability-focused architectural practice and Director of Jaaga - a shared space for creators and innovators, among other things.
My design philosophy hovers around minimalism, sustainability and the sculptural quality of built form. My work is rigorously exploratory, context driven and ultimately rooted in the human experience. I find in Architecture the perfect means to employ my idealism and empathy. I am driven by asking again and again the same questions : What is a responsible architecture? What is meaningful? What is beauty? What is sustainability?
I am also deeply interested in how we inhabit our cities and what generates ownership of public space. I have worked on projects involving art in the urban commons and studied Sense, Space and Strategy at University of Amsterdam. I am intrigued by ideas of belonging and how they can fuel us to address today's big challenges. With that in mind, I help build a collaborative community that's inclusive and diverse at Jaaga.
